Literature Text

Distance from thee is but a tickling ruse;
Aye, our geographic arithmetic—
To thy lover, such measures but amuse,
For such a "love" is simply simplistic
And reserv'd to honeymoon daydreamers;
Nay, our ripen'd depth boasts of lengthlessness
Unquantify'd by seconds and metres.
To quiver in thy leave would be faithless:
Thine impression stifles true solitude.
Doth not "farewell" prelude ev'ry greeting?
Doth not ev'ry clouded morrow include
A shining sun upon me though unseen?
    So keepest thy precious presence to thee;
    Minds married surpass physicality.

Dedicated to her

Influenced by Shakespeare's Sonnet 116 and Donne's "Love's Alchemy". Title matches that of Beethoven's Sonata No. 26.
